Town Tooting Thankfulness Thanksgiving Notes

Posted by ArchAngel Appliance Repair Service on December 1, 2009 at 9:18 PM Comments comments (0)

Good afternoon again! This is Kimberly, Joe's wife today....

Would you like to see on the evening news.... instead of all the sadness....

TOWN TOOTING THANKFULNESS!!!

Are you feeling discouraged today? Do you feel like the world is pressing down upon you? A mounting list of bills to catch up, people to phone, children to tend to, jobs to complete, business appointments or travel, your boss changing rules or quotas, company revamping, housework undone, post it notes upon post it notes, family issues, past memories, social anxieties, peer pressure, feel you're just not good enough or don't know where or how to tackle everything, thoughts clouding your mind, and so on....

Today, are you just tired?

I know it sounds trite... but I understand.

I so understand. You see, I lost my parents to drunk drivers when I was eleven years old. I had the 'beaver cleaver' life. I just woke up one day and whammo, they were gone. If you think about it, its like living in the Time Zone miniseries except it was my life. And sense then have lived through numerous other sad struggles. I won't go into the details but just know that you are not alone. I bet actually that you couldn't come up with but maybe three things I've not been through... and your friends as well. We all have been through so much. The world we live in today pretty much guarantees that you are going to be discouraged and if you are like me and believe in God than you are going to know that there is opposition whom wants you to be discouraged. If you don't believe in God well you have common sense that just says you know this is just life and I have to go on.

But just going on doesn't always help.

You know, we all must face the not so fun parts of life. It seems sometimes that for every happen thing that happens to us there are sometimes two or more sad things that come as well. Job in the Bible lived through some pretty tough times of trials. He felt all alone at times but in the end realized that all God allowed for him to go through was done because it made him a stronger person....

Now, I know that doesn't always make someone feel better, so try this:

Know that you are not alone. That is such a huge realization to know and realize that you are not alone. We are all pressured and sometimes feel oppressed. Our world is so fast paced...

I'd like you to take a moment, go ahead and give yourself permission.

Take a moment.

Now close your eyes.

Forget all those things mounting upon the mountains in your mind... just breathe. Breathe...

Just take a few minutes to think of nothing. Nothing at all.

Now, take out a sheet of paper and write ten things you are thankful for today. Just write ten things you are thankful for with a few spaces in between each one. If you can think of more go for it!!!

Now out to the side of those ten things write to whom you can be thankful for those things. Perhaps someone bought you something you needed, or your job provided it for you... perhaps you mom remembered to buy you that item you asked for... or you wife stocked the cabinet for you... perhaps you are thankful for the sky above or for the invention of fire to warm you. Whatever it is or whomever you are thankful to, no matter your beliefs, just write to whom you are thankful for those things.

Hmmmm.... if you were honest, do you see how many things you really are thankful for? You should, if you were honest and put some thought into it, be surprised at just how lucky you are. And WOW look how many people are integral in your life and provide something for you...

Here is my list:

1. home- Joe for working for the money to have and our landlord for lending it to us

2. children- God and their fathers

3. that dollar bill I found in my pants yesterday, just in time for a sweet tea at MickeyD's- my absent mindedness... and God for helping me find it just in the nick of time! ;)

4. that free blizzard coupon I found too in the coin holder! ;) my hubby who forgets when he tucks things places

5. new can opener- to my motherinlaw who remembered I desperately needed one and whoeve invented the darn thing

6. canvases- for Linda my friend who always gets used canvases for me

7. Rita- God for "inventing" her my best buddy

8. camera- my Nanny

9. laughter- God for the ability to laugh and the invention of it

10. computer to hear 106.9 Light and Family Life Today- well there are so many people who are part of 106.9 Light, Family Life Today and more, the electric company, technology, and so on, but the computer, well again hubby

11. hubby- for God to have given me a third chance at love and creating a man like He did in my hubby, to not be alone, for the molding and for all the hurts Joe did go through and all the bad decisions, for all the skills and positive things too, for his heart and insight and wisdom, God did good and is still doing good

gosh I could go on and on....

Now, pick the most important three items you are thankful for. If whomever helped to provide those things are tangible to you than take some time to write them a simple thank you note. Nothing fancy, nothing that takes a million hours or eloquent verse...

just say thank you.

and if whoever provided it for you is not tangible whether it be God or a past on friend or parent, still write that note!

It feels so good to just let it out.... the thankfulness

Perhaps someone else out there needs to know that even though they have those mountains mounting up against them they are appreciated.

If we all take a few moments to spread some gratitude around perhaps we can all lift each other up. If enough people do this excercise it is bound to spread to everyone in the world. Can you imagine if everyone in our little town, our county, our part of the Carolinas, our State, our Nation.... if we all received a letter of gratitude?

I was listening to Family Life today this morning at http://www.familylife.com/site/c.dnJHKLNnFoG/b.3843443/k.809C/FamilyLife_Today.htm?from=hpbrooadcastbox and realized that I too have become discouraged. I highly encourage your listening to today's podcast if you are down.

This time of year I miss my parents more and more. First I have to go through the anniversary of their deaths, then Thanksgiving and Christmas with the kids and without their grandparents... the festivities, the things we have to remember, the events, the business, making time to paint, cleaning house, life and so on. It can be too much. But today they were speaking of Gratitude.... Nancy Leigh Demoss and Barbara Rainey, fellow sisters in Christ. Apparently she has written a fabulous new book about gratitude.

You know we really are blessed in our world today. There are so many people with nothing and even if we have a huge list of things to do this simply means we have people who need us, people who loves us, and people who may not know or understand this yet but do, to care for.

To much is given much is expected....

Why would we whine and grumble or complain about the priveledge of having a long list of things to do... what is the alternative?

So, I thought how can I be more greatful and how can we spread cheer. They suggested we write to friends and family and tell them how thankful we are. Let's all do this. Let's write a simple note to three friends or family members, or whomever you are thankful to.

Wouldn't that be something if on the news in a few days was a headline like this

POST OFFICE OVERWHELMED BY LETTERS BECAUSE OF GRATITUDE

TOWN TOOTING THANKFULNESS

HAPPINESS ABOUNDS IN HENDERSONVILLE

or whatever...

let's spread some gratitude and lift the mountains mounting upon us.

Lighten your load today.

Last, this week is the last week to make shoe boxes to send across the seas for children.... http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/

Spread some more gratitude and love....

God bless

Clogged Refrigerator???

Got a Clogged Refrigerator?

Here lately we have had multiple calls for clogged drains in refrigerators. This happens because of ''what grows where the water goes''....

Here are some tips for you Do It Yourselfers!

First, to Prevent this from happening to your Fabulous Fridge:If you can visually see your drain in the back of the freezer, then you can take a turkey baster with hot water and lemon juice and squirt it down the hole. The lemon juice will naturally 'eat' away grime and clean it as well as prevent more grime from growing.

If you cannot see your drain in the back of the refrigerator it can be behind a panel in the rear of some side by sides. It might also be behind the panel in back in a top mount unit. In this case it is easier to phone us unless you are technically sound. You will need your manual and or a diagram from the internet.

Second, If your drain is already clogged then you may need to unplug the unit and use your hair dryer and a turkey baster with hot water to fix your drain. Use the hair dryer to thaw out the frozen substances and then use the turkey baster with lemon water to clean it as above. You may have to alternate the procedure over and over but with some time and amazing lemon juice you should be alright.

Remember to clean your drain pan often as well! If your refrigerator cannot flow properly you will indeed get ''gunked up'' as well as cause more issues like floor damage.

Food for thought and if you have further questions never hesitate to phone,

What made you choose to Repair Appliances?

Joe and I were talking about life in general and my recent post about work. I wanted to know why he chose to fix appliances as a job. Sometimes they really throw him for a doozy and I am so impressed by how he figures it all out. Me, now I would NEVER choose to do this for a job. So, I was really interested in finding out how it all happened that he ended up doing this.

Of course his answer was, "Well, they're easier to fix than people!" lol That's my Joe, the comedian... But, really, Its really a long story. So, he told me the long and short of it and then I thought well other folks might be interested as well. So here goes.

I wrote it in the tense of Joe telling me...paraphrased:

_____________________________________

"I really wasn't much for schooling.... I never felt challenged enough. So I leaned towards the hands on jobs, or some folks call it blue collar. I've had a lot of jobs early on in life... as a teen I washed dishes in a restaurant, helped my father with his cows, even dug ditches at one job, painted homes and eventually I was working in heating and air conditioning and became allergic to some of the products in the fiberglass duct board. Now, I had made some negative choices early on and that had affected my life greatly. I could have gone on to college or whatever. I didn't have many options but I knew I was good at working with my hands and so I began to look for a job. Gene at Blue Ridge Appliance gave me a position and taught me from the ground up. I am very fond of him and thankful for all he taught me. Once I found something I was good at I figured I would stick with it. If something ain't broke, don't fix it I always say. Over the years I have gone from Blue Ridge to another company to Sears A&E. I found that I enjoyed the comraderie of the small company, the logistics of the larger company, the people pleasing of the small company, and the potential of the larger company... so here I am. I'm still doing what God has given me the brain, hands, and love of mystery solving but at the same time I get to mold the differing aspects of each company I worked for. If I didn't think it would offend some folks or encourage them too I would tell you more details about each company and what I learned but suffice to say that I think that with each position you hold in life you take something with you. You learn from whatever you do whether it be a job or whether it be just working on your own car. So, I told my wife you look back over life and see how God is instrumental in showing you your talents and what you are good at. He opened the door for me to work with Gene at Blue Ridge, gave me a mentor who is still a mentor, and slowly showed me all I needed to learn to get me to this point where I am truly working for Him now. You know, a job is a job, but a job isn't just a job until you let it be so. For me my job fixing appliances is a chance to meet and greet folks, get in their homes and be there if they need encouragement, and perhaps fulfill something more than just fixing their appliances especially sense meeting Jesus for real. And, I'm so thankful to all those who have taught and mentored me along the way and to those who gave me a chance. Being an owner of my own business allows me to make calls and give a hand where needed with the new insight I've been given and that is what fixing appliances really is. I also hope to give back and give chances to others who need to learn. We all go through a process kinda like a sick appliance."

So, after hearing all Joe had to say I came to the idea that Perhaps, just perhaps, he has ended up in the business of fixing people after all!!!....

now there's a thought.

Something to crunch on,

Maintaining your Refrigerator

Maintaining your Refrigerator

Here at ArchAngel we've seen just about everything... literally everything in folk's fridges but I found this shot on the net and couldn't resist posting! I know there have been times when I knew I opened my fridge something might walk out and eat me... all kinds of things grow in refridgerators, especially if you don't properly maintain them! Maintenance isn't just keeping them clean..... to properly maintain your refridgerator requires several things:

Clean the inside of the refrigerator regularly with a solution of baking soda and water, even if it doesn't seem to need it. This kind of care will also prevent odors from being absorbed.

a close check on the temperature... and that doesn't mean just look at the dials. From time to time stick a thermometer in there and get a true reading. Freezers should be kept at 0F (minus 18C) or lower and refrigerators should be at 40F (5C) or lower, but not so cold as to freeze. When taking the temperature be sure to place it between objects and not up against the wall as this gives an inaccurate reading. Read the thermometer in the morning or after the door has been shut for several hours. It is a good idea to do this at least once monthly. That way you can make note if you are beginning to have issues.

This leads to the next maintenance issue. Is your door seal intact? You don't want to waste money and electricity by having to consistently cool your fridge. This is also a go "green" issue. To test this use this dollar bill test. Place a a dollar bill or a piece of paper between the seal and the refrigerator and close the door. Now pull the paper out. You should feel tension as you pull. Retest along the entire door seal.

How close is your refrigerator spaced in relation to the wall? There should be adequate room for ventilation and heat control. Also, how close is it in relation to the stove? I never cease to be amazed at the layout of some kitchens! Who ever thought of putting the stove... an obvious heat source... next to the refridgerator? - If you are one of the poor souls to have your kitchen thus laid out, please do what you can to have your kitchen lay out changed and if you cannot make sure there is at least four inches between your stove and fridge. A typical refrigerator has to pull air at floor level across the coils if they are located on the bottom of the unit (some have coils buried in the sides) and across the fractional horsepower compressor at the rear. Hot air is going to effect the performance (and consequently) the life span of the refrigerator. If it has to run all the time it will shorten the life of your compressor. So, I suggest not placing these two appliances side by side and if you are forced to do so especially make sure your door seal is in good condition. The less pressure put on yoru compressor, the longer your refrigerator will run, and save you money from having to purchase another.

This is important: Vacuum the back of the refrigerator and underneath it. Remove the front grill and clean it as well. You must keep the air free flowing to keep the appliance running properly but also to prevent fires.

Empty the water pan from time to time if you find water in it. Make sure it is clean and free of food/objects and place it back under the refrigerator.

Have your local appliance repair man check your appliances one yearly for problems that may exist. We do a 10 point check on freezers and refrigerators to include: REFRIGERATOR/ FREEZER

? Clean condenser.

? Check and properly adjust thermostat and air dampers.

? Check automatic defrost cycle.

? Check door seals for air leaks.

? Clean defrost evaporation pan.

? Check defrost drain for blockage and leaks.

? Level cabinet.

? Check ice dispenser (if applicable) for proper operation.

? Check water dispenser (if applicable) for proper water flow.

? Inspect electrical system.

I found this buying smart guide on California's Energy Website and find it very informational and could not have better written it myself..... loads of info!

Buying Smart

http://www.consumerenergycenter.org/home/appliances/refrigerators.html

Refrigerators

Refrigerators come with an EnergyGuide label that tells you in kilowatt-hours (kWh) how much electricity a particular model uses in a year. The smaller the number, the less energy the refrigerator uses and the less it will cost you to operate.

Before you go shopping, explore the Energy Star? product database. It lists high efficiency refrigerators, refrigerator-freezers, and freezers that exceed appliance efficiency standards - making it easier for you to decide which models to look for when you go shopping.

Also check with your local utility company to see if they are offering rebates on energy efficient models.

Refrigerators with the freezer on either the bottom or top are the most efficient. Bottom freezer models use approximately 16 percent less energy than side-by-side models and top freezer models use about 13 percent less than side-by-side.

Through-the-door icemakers and water dispensers are convenient and reduce the need to open the door, which helps maintain a more constant temperature; however, these convenient items will increase your refrigerator's energy use by 14 to 20 percent.

Mini-doors give you easy access to items most often used. The main door is opened less often, which saves energy.

Too large a refrigerator may waste space and energy. One that's too small can mean extra trips to the grocery store. Your best bet is to decide which size fits your needs, then compare the EnergyGuide label on each so you can purchase the most energy efficient make and model.

A manual defrost refrigerator uses half the energy of an automatic defrost model but must be defrosted regularly to stay energy efficient.

Refrigerators with anti-sweat heaters consume five percent to 10 percent more energy. Look for models with an "energy saver" switch that lets you turn down - or off - the heating coils (which prevent condensation).

Freezers

Chest freezers are usually more efficient than upright freezers. Chest freezers are better insulated and cold air doesn't spill out when the door is opened.

Automatic defrost freezers can consume 40 percent more electricity than similar manual defrost models.

Recycling Appliances

I wanted to hit a topic close to our hearts here at ArchAngel and why we are a Green Company... recycling appliances. Think about it! You order a fancy new stove.... with all the newest gadgets and widgets but what do you do with you old stove? Unless you are like my wife Kimberly and paint folk art, the only option is to throw it away.... She can turn anything into art, but I doubt your neighbors really want to see a bunch of appliances lying around.... so, What are you to do?

I thought about writing myself about this subject but found a wonderful website that I would like to recommend. The American Council for An Energy-Efficient Economy has a wonderful page which completely explains this subject and has great ideas for what to do with your old appliances. They also explain what happens to our environment when we do not correctly dispose of them.... I truly could not have explained these items better myself. This is easy reading and they have good tips.

Personally, I would like to suggest that you consider having your old appliances fixed and continue using them. The older appliances were made to last for a long time anyways. You can repaint them easily and spruce them up as well as buy new faceplates and covers for them. Got an old dishwasher? Buy a new faceplate. Voila! Shiny new dishwasher... Anyways, here is the information below to answer our latest question.... you can also read it yourself at

http://www.aceee.org/consumerguide/disposal.htm

I'm not sure if the links contained within the paragraphs will still work once on my various blogs.... so go to their page if they don't. I apologize, I'm an appliance expert, not a computer expert! ;)

Food for thought.....

Question: How do I recycle my old appliances?

Appliance Recycling and Disposal

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Household appliances, like all consumer goods, require energy and resources in their creation, operation, and disposal. Environmental consequences after disposal may include the introduction of greenhouse gases, heavy metals and toxic chemicals into the environment. Refrigerators, air conditioners, electronics, and fluorescent lighting products pose particular risks to the environment that should be kept in check; however, consumers should minimize the impact of all disposed goods by recycling as much of the durable materials as possible (metals, plastics, glass) and by making themselves aware of and recovering any harmful substances involved. This reduces the impact of landfill waste as well as further mining of increasingly scarce resources.

Cooling equipment, such as refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers and room air conditioners involve refrigerants and insulating foams that release ozone-depleting substances and greenhouse gases once in a landfill. Older appliances may also contain PCBs or mercury. Newer products (made within the past 10 years) do not contain these toxic materials and use refrigerants and foam blowing agents that are less harmful to the ozone layer, but they still contribute greenhouse gas emissions. Federal law requires the removal and proper disposal of refrigerants but not foam products.

Most municipalities will pick up your old refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner with the bulk trash pick-up (you must call the city to arrange a pick-up). By law, the city must must dispose of refrigerants, PCBs and mercury properly. But first, contact your utility and read below to see if there is a rebate or bounty program in your area.

Top

Electronics, most notably televisions and computer monitors, involve a variety of recyclable and toxic materials, including plastics, glass, steel, gold, lead, mercury, cadmium beryllium, nickel, zinc, and brominated flame retardants, many of which can be recaptured and used again.

Several major electronics manufacturers have programs in place to accept their old hardware, usually as a trade-in upon purchase of a new unit. They are joined by retail stores, including Staples, Best Buy, Office Depot and Wal-Mart, who have programs to collect appliances such as computers, monitors, laptops, printers, faxes and all-in-ones for recycling in accordance with environmental laws.

Find a local e-waste recycling or donation program by visiting EPA's eCycling page.

Top

Lighting equipment is generally not treated as toxic waste, but fluorescent lamps, including CFLs, are an exception because they contain trace amounts of mercury. Although not regulated at the federal level, several states ban the disposal of CFLs in household trash.

Many towns and cities offer recycling opportunities for CFLs at local recycling centers or transfer stations. State requirements and recycling opportunities vary. To find out what programs are available in your state or region, go to www.epa.gov/bulbrecycling. For more information about the risks of CFLs, read the ENERGY STAR Fact Sheet (PDF)

If you have a fluorescent fixture in your basement or workroom that was manufacturered before 1979, the ballast may contain PCBs that must be disposed of responsibly under federal law. Go to www.lamprecycle.org for list of national lamp and ballast recyclers.

Top

Can I get a rebate for trading in my old appliance?

Your utility may even pay you to get rid of inefficient appliances. These programs usually involve an incentive on the order of $35 for the collection of old units, either in the form of cash or a rebate towards an ENERGY STAR replacement. A third party contractor that works with the utility will either come to you and pick up the appliance, or hold a turn-in event where you drop it of. Existing programs predominantly target old refrigerators; a few programs also offer a rebate for room air conditioners. Contractors ensure that the old units are disposed of properly.

Some companies that run bounty programs are ARCA Inc., JACO Environmental, and CSG. To bring a bounty program to your community, or for more information on bounty programs, try contacting your electricity provider, your local air protection government official, or the aforementioned companies.

Adjusting Hubby's Antenna

So I'm, ArchAngel's Wife, sitting here enjoying a nice cup of hot coffee... watching the sun come up over the ridge of Pinnacle Mountain, the hay swaying in the fields out front, the smells of fresh cut grass mixed with glorious dew, the sounds of children snoozing in their beds enjoying the calm of summer, the roosters crowing out back, pondering on starting another painting.... pondering adjusting my hubby's antenna!.........ahhh morning. It is a nice time, a quiet time, a time to get up and read my Bible, have some time with the Lord, to myself, to reflect and think. We mothers rarely get time to just sit and think but oh do I treasure it! And, I especially treasure my time with the Lord... I just couldn't make it without Him.

Here lately, I've been tested quite a bit... in more ways than one. I have been learning what it is to have true faith-

for my hubby, Joe, has up and decided to quit his job, his for sure job making very good money and start his own business.....in this economy of all things.... when my mind as a woman is to stay stable and not launch new things....and so I started to think.....do you ever just wanna reach up and adjust Your hubby's antenna? I mean, what is going on in their heads?

Now as a woman I was raised you back your man up no matter what. That's all good and fine, that's easy to do, right? We women nowadays in the years of 2000 are raised yes to be liberal and strong, take care of ourselves, to be aggressive, sharp, work hard both in and out of the home....... but as a Christian woman, I am to support my husband in all he does as well. Just how does one go about doing that? Truly doing that? Do we put our 'two cents' worth in where needed? Do we offer advice? We all know men SO love that! :) ....... I've learned in church over the years these things.... to follow my husband, to care for him, to cook and clean, to believe in him, to love and respect him, and yes to blend that with being a "liberated" woman.

But, noone ever truly tells you just how to go about doing that. I mean really, is there some book or template that we women are to look to? I personally love all those self help books! hehe I could read a hundred. And, I just love telling hubby allllll about what I learn in them, you know? You say: not a good idea!!! I know.... you say, look in the Bible.... Right!!! You are right............ see now, I said I am being tried here lately and learning......... yes, the answers are there, but the practice, now the practice is up to me...

But for now, I'm having a crash course in this stuff! For starters, my hubby is in the midst of a learning process too! He has decided to start a business in the midst of his turning to Christ and changing his life. It is odd... and I'm sure many have gone before and done things this way... I'm sure there are other women out there who could give me advice, or mentoring or something.... who have watched their darlings change overnight....launching into a whole new world and having you and the children hold onto their shirtstrings in the midst of it all....... If you are out there, please contact me!

In starting a new business I can help him to market, take care of paperwork, to plan, to tell others about his desires and goals.... but insomuch as that, that's where my help with the business stops, right? --No, I can pray and talk with the Lord, ask Him to give my husband direction, guidance, determination, skill, trust, faith, energy, honesty, and so much more.... yes, that is one way to support him, on my knees. I can gently offer advice where needed... I can make sure our home is prepared, meals and such, so that when he comes home from the world he has a safe haven to rest...... I can work on myself, be presentable for him, and strong so that when he is tired, I am here.... peaceful and waiting..... The past few days have been trying... well, quite honestly I've put so much emphasis on the biz that lately I've done none of that stuff I just wrote about that I know I'm Supposed to be doing...... I think we women love to take hold to take control and I've been doing that. Working on the biz and letting the rest go to the wayside...... I suppose it is something to do with balance? Perhaps....

No calls in three days.... I know, my focus again, right. But, What does the Lord mean by letting us have no calls in three days? I don't know. I tend to be a go getter and can't stand just sitting around and waiting... ahhhh..... Perhaps the Lord wants me to focus more on Him? instead of the going ons and whatnots of the Here and Now.... I'm not sure. I know I'm proud of my husband for standing for what he believes in the workplace. I'm proud of him for wanting to start his own business so he may have more time to venture out and do church/volunteer work..... but I have to be honest with God and myself that I'm scared. It is scary to just launch out in faith. We women love stability, love it. My husband keeps telling me it is like when Jesus asked Peter to jump out of the boat and walk towards Him.... we are walking on water now. Ain't that the truth! Seven children between the two of us.... oh my little babies. I know God will take care of us, He has shown me that time and again.....

He brings to mind an example: Like the time I was single, in between marriages... and living on a mere $7.50 an hour.... I didn't have school supply money for the kids and was going to give my tithe for the two weeks, $30. I said, Lord If I give you my tithe that is money I could use to buy the children supplies.... and He said, Trust Me. and So I did.... and the most wonderful thing happened! I went to Sunday School and a friend, more of an acquaintance was there.... she came up to me and told me she had decided to stay home with her new baby and not teach school and with that turned around producing to bags of school supplies! She then told me that she didn't want to hurt my feelings but that she felt God wanted me to have these.... WOW I said yes, oh yes, I had prayed for them and told her how the Lord had told me to trust Him for the supplies.... and she smiled and said not to forget the card in the bottom of the bag. Upon going home and going through the supplies, what would I find in that card? $30!!! Not only did He give me the supplies my children needed, but He gave me the money back as well! Isn't God good??? .... but we so easily forget. No wonder God had to keep reminding them in the Old Testament.... I know I do and have especially here lately need some reminding.

He has showed me time and again. I could tell you story after story but here I am now.... walking in faith.... trying to learn what it is to truly be a Godly woman and trust my husband to be listening correctly to the Lord.... don't we always want to take the wheel? I mean, if I were in control, the one starting a business, wouldn't it be easier? But, to trust not just the Lord in this, but my husband too? Does he have his antenna on straight? Do I need to tweak it for him? Does he have his Rosetta Stone in his mind, all the words figured out? Is he listening to God correctly and Truly Hearing Him? I don't know.... During the times the Lord and I were alone, before I got married, it was so easy........ it was just God and me. Just us two.... but now, I'm just a wife. Right? Just a wife.... along for the ride............a wife learning how to be a wife, to a Godly man, not just a man, but one listening to the Lord for real....... But when I look upon things with my own eyes, I just don't see it adding up. Enjoying my coffeee talking with the Lord.... and viewing how things are panning out.... as a Christian woman, I suppose I need to just close my eyes....pray.... and enjoy letting God take control. The funny thing is that in the midst of me learning these things, as a sort of newly married couple, three years.... is that I'm watching my hubby grow in the Lord at the same time. These are exciting times!!! Scary but exciting! Not just in our lives, but the worlds' as well. So many changes are happening....

I pray we all stop, drink some coffee and talk with the Lord about the changes we see happening out there.... not just in here, but out there.......I'm learning -For now, I am just pondering and would love to talk with other women about how we can support our husbands;

Through thick and thin and especially when sometimes we think they've lost their bonkers!!! Because, I think that in the coming years, we are gonna need to know how to do this very well. We don't have to adjust their atennas...... just pray for them.

And, after all that, and some quiet time with God, I think I've answered my own question....

It's MY antenna that needs adjusting!!!

I'll just give it all to Him. There. Done.

- And now, I will go clean house.

Blessings one and all,

When Things Just Don't Go My Way.....

Good afternoon! This is ArchAngel's Wife, Kimberly, writing again today.....

This past week and a half has been very tough on my husband. -I tell you what, as a wife, watching him struggle is very tough. As a wife I just wanna pick him up and hold him and like my children tell him it's all gonna be ok. Sometimes, though, that's just not the best thing to do. We women have to let our fellas just go into their man caves and figure things out... have a little time with the Lord and trust all will be well. So, I've let things be and am just doing the wife thing.... I know, and you know, that things just don't go our way sometimes... and so I'm thinking and here are my thoughts:

Well, you know we just started our little business oh about a month back now and last week he got a 'typical' call to take care of a customer's stove except that the customer stated that the Lord told him to call my husband. Wow. That is something! The Lord told him to call my husband! I don't know about you, but when I hear something like that I'm expecting something awesome to happen when I get out to that call... Surely, this man is gonna tell me something else, something God wants me to hear! So, you sit and ponder what is gonna happen and why did the Lord tell you to go to this man's call? HMMM

Times passes.... So Joe goes to the man's house and he isn't there, but his wife is. He figures out what is wrong and he ordered the part necessary. Nothing amazing happened at all! Just a typical call. Then he went back to put it on and what do you think happens? It didn't work! And not only that, in the midst of fixing the stove, the wall outlet shorted itself out... meaning he needed to replace the wall outlet now. Now, in the ten years my hubby has been doing this line of work, first of all, noone has ever told him God told him to come fix their stove for one, and for two, he has never had a wall outlet short itself out..... He came home downtrodden and a little sad. And he especially fully expected the gentleman to have something ingenious to say about the Lord to him.... but nothing. So, he come home and goes and prays about it and says, well I'll just fix it. Up in the forest he went and I didn't see him for hours.... the man cave!

Go forward to now we have another new part and he goes to put this one on. Do you know what happened? You got it! It didn't work. Oh My! Now you tell me... first God tells us to go to this man's home, the part doesn't work, the wall outlet shorts and now the second part doesn't work!!! More time in the man cave with God....

So now these dear people whom are understanding and patient have to go without a stove for a week and a half. Not what we want at all! We are trying to beat our competitors, not just in price, but in time to fix things.... what a frustrating predicament!!!

I don't know about you.... but watching my hubby go through that this week, in the height and excitement of thinking wow something neat has just got to happen... in the midst of faith in starting a business with absolutely no savings and just rolling on faith... that is hard for a wife. I don't know what to say. What am I supposed to do? I have no clue how to fix a stove much less a wall outlet! So I am thinking what are we supposed to learn from this? Nothing amazing has happened, nothing prolific or profound and in fact just the opposite has happened! Negative things which absolutely Never happen...

I suppose the only thing to do is to support my hubby and pray for the Lord to tell him what it is he is to learn from this experience. I know that there is a reason for everything, especially when our Lord is involved... and there Must be a reason this man was told for Joe to come and work on his stove for him...

Perhaps that wall outlet was going to start a fire and Joe's coming was simply to end up fixing the wall outlet as well. Perhaps it was to teach my dear hubby that he isn't perfect, that things are going to go awry, and that it is ok to be just that sometimes, himself. Perhaps it was to nip in the bud what we all know is going to happen, especially when you start a new biz, something negative... I mean what would it be like for everything to be speeding along and then POW! At least, now we have it out of the way, what it feels like to have something throw you off course. Perhaps it was to make my hubby think about how much he really wants to be in charge of his own enterprise. Or perhaps it happened because the opposing forces of our Lord want to discourage my dear hubby and bring him down.

- OR maybe it just happened because God knew my hubby could take the beating? Maybe he thinks enough of him to let it happen to teach him lessons, to show to him that he is strong enough to know that he isn't perfect... I have no clue. I could sit here forever and try and figure this out. OR maybe it just isn't finished yet... the story isn't done. He does have to go back with a third part and do this again...........

All I know is that it happened and now I've got to just be here in the background and do what I can to soften the blow for my dear one. We all love it when awesome like this happens. When we come home from a hard day's work and can sit down for a bit and say, I did a good job. Or we all love it when things are smooth... plenty of money in the bank, food in our belly, smiles on our faces, and laughter abounding. But that isn't life. Life is not always easy and God never promised that life would be easier for us even after accepting Him. And I don't know about you but it has just gotten harder and harder for me sense then.....He only promises to be there, to pick us up, help us along, teach us a few things along the way and in the end at the Finish Line help us to BLOW on past the darned enemy!!!

You ask, why in the world are you posting such a topic? Do you want your hubby to look bad in front of those whom he is hoping to gain their business?

NO...........Yes, of course I want everyone to think highly of my hubby! But he cannot control when a part will not work... and he has no control over a person's wall outlet shorting... So, I know who is in control. God IS!

And, I am posting what I'm learning, and he is learning because this is God's business, not ours. We work first for Him and there just HAS to be a reason this has happened this week and I will not be persuaded otherwise especially not for reputation's sake. To me it's more important to learn and be open in life than to build ourselves up. Open book is what I say!

Blessings all and if you have feedback just give me a shout, our number is on the blog.

A couple of my favorite verses come to mind...

"He said to them, ‘You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God' " (Luke 16:15).

He knows our hearts....

Colossians 3:23-24. "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men; knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve."

In Christ and still learning....
