When Things Just Don't Go My Way.....
Good afternoon! This is ArchAngel's Wife, Kimberly, writing again today.....
This past week and a half has been very tough on my husband. -I tell you what, as a wife, watching him struggle is very tough. As a wife I just wanna pick him up and hold him and like my children tell him it's all gonna be ok. Sometimes, though, that's just not the best thing to do. We women have to let our fellas just go into their man caves and figure things out... have a little time with the Lord and trust all will be well. So, I've let things be and am just doing the wife thing.... I know, and you know, that things just don't go our way sometimes... and so I'm thinking and here are my thoughts:
Well, you know we just started our little business oh about a month back now and last week he got a 'typical' call to take care of a customer's stove except that the customer stated that the Lord told him to call my husband. Wow. That is something! The Lord told him to call my husband! I don't know about you, but when I hear something like that I'm expecting something awesome to happen when I get out to that call... Surely, this man is gonna tell me something else, something God wants me to hear! So, you sit and ponder what is gonna happen and why did the Lord tell you to go to this man's call? HMMM
Times passes.... So Joe goes to the man's house and he isn't there, but his wife is. He figures out what is wrong and he ordered the part necessary. Nothing amazing happened at all! Just a typical call. Then he went back to put it on and what do you think happens? It didn't work! And not only that, in the midst of fixing the stove, the wall outlet shorted itself out... meaning he needed to replace the wall outlet now. Now, in the ten years my hubby has been doing this line of work, first of all, noone has ever told him God told him to come fix their stove for one, and for two, he has never had a wall outlet short itself out..... He came home downtrodden and a little sad. And he especially fully expected the gentleman to have something ingenious to say about the Lord to him.... but nothing. So, he come home and goes and prays about it and says, well I'll just fix it. Up in the forest he went and I didn't see him for hours.... the man cave!
Go forward to now we have another new part and he goes to put this one on. Do you know what happened? You got it! It didn't work. Oh My! Now you tell me... first God tells us to go to this man's home, the part doesn't work, the wall outlet shorts and now the second part doesn't work!!! More time in the man cave with God....
So now these dear people whom are understanding and patient have to go without a stove for a week and a half. Not what we want at all! We are trying to beat our competitors, not just in price, but in time to fix things.... what a frustrating predicament!!!
I don't know about you.... but watching my hubby go through that this week, in the height and excitement of thinking wow something neat has just got to happen... in the midst of faith in starting a business with absolutely no savings and just rolling on faith... that is hard for a wife. I don't know what to say. What am I supposed to do? I have no clue how to fix a stove much less a wall outlet! So I am thinking what are we supposed to learn from this? Nothing amazing has happened, nothing prolific or profound and in fact just the opposite has happened! Negative things which absolutely Never happen...
I suppose the only thing to do is to support my hubby and pray for the Lord to tell him what it is he is to learn from this experience. I know that there is a reason for everything, especially when our Lord is involved... and there Must be a reason this man was told for Joe to come and work on his stove for him...
Perhaps that wall outlet was going to start a fire and Joe's coming was simply to end up fixing the wall outlet as well. Perhaps it was to teach my dear hubby that he isn't perfect, that things are going to go awry, and that it is ok to be just that sometimes, himself. Perhaps it was to nip in the bud what we all know is going to happen, especially when you start a new biz, something negative... I mean what would it be like for everything to be speeding along and then POW! At least, now we have it out of the way, what it feels like to have something throw you off course. Perhaps it was to make my hubby think about how much he really wants to be in charge of his own enterprise. Or perhaps it happened because the opposing forces of our Lord want to discourage my dear hubby and bring him down.
- OR maybe it just happened because God knew my hubby could take the beating? Maybe he thinks enough of him to let it happen to teach him lessons, to show to him that he is strong enough to know that he isn't perfect... I have no clue. I could sit here forever and try and figure this out. OR maybe it just isn't finished yet... the story isn't done. He does have to go back with a third part and do this again...........
All I know is that it happened and now I've got to just be here in the background and do what I can to soften the blow for my dear one. We all love it when awesome like this happens. When we come home from a hard day's work and can sit down for a bit and say, I did a good job. Or we all love it when things are smooth... plenty of money in the bank, food in our belly, smiles on our faces, and laughter abounding. But that isn't life. Life is not always easy and God never promised that life would be easier for us even after accepting Him. And I don't know about you but it has just gotten harder and harder for me sense then.....He only promises to be there, to pick us up, help us along, teach us a few things along the way and in the end at the Finish Line help us to BLOW on past the darned enemy!!!
You ask, why in the world are you posting such a topic? Do you want your hubby to look bad in front of those whom he is hoping to gain their business?
NO...........Yes, of course I want everyone to think highly of my hubby! But he cannot control when a part will not work... and he has no control over a person's wall outlet shorting... So, I know who is in control. God IS!
And, I am posting what I'm learning, and he is learning because this is God's business, not ours. We work first for Him and there just HAS to be a reason this has happened this week and I will not be persuaded otherwise especially not for reputation's sake. To me it's more important to learn and be open in life than to build ourselves up. Open book is what I say!
Blessings all and if you have feedback just give me a shout, our number is on the blog.

A couple of my favorite verses come to mind...
"He said to them, ‘You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God' " (Luke 16:15).
He knows our hearts....
Colossians 3:23-24. "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men; knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve."
In Christ and still learning....
