how do i know if it's the fuse or heater element gone bad? I'm sorry I forgot to tell you it is an kenmore dryer model # 11067442400~ Dave via MerchantCircle.com question Hi Dave! Thanks for your question! First Dave I'm not finding that model number in my database but no worries... You need to have an ohm meter. There are two models of these dryers. One has a small panel at the bottom and one you remove the whole back panel. On the first, use a putty knife to remove the panel. Next check the fuses... you need to check the two fuses located on the heater element duct. You need to ohm these out. You can google how to do that... it is quite simple.... simply it is remove the two wires, attach each end of the ohm meter to each side or terminal and then if the meter reads OL then you will need to replace that fuse. You can also ohm out the heater element. In this manner you will be able to figure out which you need. BUT, 90 percent of the time I have found it will be your high limit thermal fuse which when purchased they come as a pack of both fuses. I like to go ahead and switch them both out. I hope that answered your question and apologize for not having seen it sooner. We have had a little one in the hospital and I missed this one. God bless and good luck, ArchAngel PS Check your venting systems and vent for obstruction. Many times this is what 'burns out' the elements and fuses. Overheating can be a killer. | |
