I have a Whirlpool Range/Oven Mod.GS563LXS130 that shuts down when the electricity goes out. Is there any way to keep it from locking so that I can still use the gas (propane) to cook with when the electric power is out, which can happen for days at a time here in the mountains. Thank you!

Good morning Clare!
I apologize for just now seeing your post. Since the holiday we have been ultra busy which is good but gets me behind on the internet. If I understand your question right, there is no way to use your oven while the power goes out. You need to get a generator to plug up and provide at least 120 volts of electricity to your home circuits in order to use the oven. It won't work without power. This is a safety mechanism because of the gas and besides that you need power in order to use the oven period. I'm home most days by 5 pm- today I have meetings though and tomorrow. Feel free to call me to talk further if you like. Sometimes I can help more over the phone and can keep from having to schedule an appointment. I think I understood your question though.
Your only other option is to buy a small grill for when the power goes out. Grill versus generator... the grill would be more economical.
thanks and God bless! Joe
